Periodontal Laser Therapy

When a patient has advanced gum disease, our dentist may provide periodontal laser therapy. The laser is used to remove plaque and noxious elements from between the gums and the teeth.

Scaling & Root Planing

Scaling and root planing is another treatment for gum disease. During this deep cleaning procedure, the teeth are cleaned all the way down to the tooth roots. The roots are then smoothed so that it is difficult for plaque to adhere to them.

ARESTIN®

ARESTIN® is an antibiotic that helps kill the bacteria that causes gum disease. ARESTIN is often used hand in hand with scaling and root planing. The antibiotic is placed in the periodontal pockets above and below the gum line. ARESTIN works over time, killing the bacteria so that the gums can heal better.

Periostat®

Periostat® is a product that is used after scaling and root planing to reduce periodontal pockets by improving tooth attachment.
